Never Say Die!

The Arizona Coyotes delivered a thrilling comeback against Detroit on Tuesday night, with Nick Bjugstad, Travis Boyd, and Dylan Guenther all finding the back of the net to erase a 3-1 deficit in the third period and snapped their 9-game losing skid.

With pressure mounting in the shootout, both Nick Schmaltz and Bjugstad were clutches when it mattered most and Connor Ingram shut the door from Detroit’s attempts to seal the win. Bjugstad finished with two points while Lawson Crouse’s three assists set a single-game career-high, giving Arizona the edge to even their series against the Atlantic opponent

This victory also pushed their recent record versus Detroit to 5-0-1 and Ingram has been instrumental in that success as of late, boasting a remarkable goals-against average of 2.38 and a save percentage of .925 over his last five starts.

Thrilling Final Period

Fans watching the high-scoring third period had their hearts in their mouths as goals came fast and furious. Ryan Suter restored Detroit’s lead at 4:51 after he converted a 2-on-1 play, but Dinge Perron struck back just under a minute later to make it 3-1.

Boyd soon pulled one back for the Coyotes, tucking the puck in 54 seconds later to bring them back within one goal of tying. Miraculously, Guenther struck on an incredible chance with only minutes left in the frame, prompting celebrations from both sides of the ice due to the drama that had just unfolded.

It was all Coyotes on the 3-on-3 overtime as Schmaltz and Bjugstad converted while Ingram denied all attempts from Red Wings.

“We have a group that will never quit, and we have a group that has a lot of pride,” Tourigny said. “They love to play for each other, and they love to play together.”
