Patriots at Cardinals Week 14 Preview

Bill Belichick’s defensive philosophy has always had the unifying theme of not allowing the opposing team’s standout performers to have a major impact in any given contest. This weekend, however, he and his Patriots face a rather tough task as they take on DeAndre Hopkins, one of the NFL’s most explosive wide receivers.

“He’s got tremendous ball skills,” Belichick stated.

“He catches everything, has great hands, and he’s long, so he’s never covered. Even if he’s covered, there’s a place where the ball can be that he can get it and still make the catch. Great coordination on the sidelines.

Despite sitting out six games due to suspension earlier in the season, Hopkins continues to be the Cardinals’ go-to option in the passing game and is currently first in both receptions (49) and receiving yards (574). Nullifying his effectiveness through technique or double teams will be key for New England this coming Sunday.

While the Cardinals will play at home, it doesn’t necessarily mean it increases their chances of winning. In addition, stunning the Patriots will take more than just a one-man show from Hopkins. According to DraftKings sportsbook, they lost ten out of their last 11 games at State Farm, including their recent three-game losing skid.
