The Arizona Cardinals’ disastrous season has come to an end. The squad had a longshot chance at making the postseason after starting the season with a disappointing 4-9 record and losing their star quarterback Kyler Murray for the remainder of the year. However, a glimmer of hope remained until Week 15, when their 24-15the  loss to the Denver Broncos officially eliminated them from contention. This marks their fourth consecutive loss and sixth defeat in seven matchups, resulting in their first double-digit loss season since 2019.

This highlights another disappointing season for the Cardinals fans who have yet to experience a championship since 1947.

Another Heart-breaking Loss for the Cardinals

Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos ended in heartbreak for the Cardinals, as a snakebitten team was struck with yet another quarterback injury. Colt McCoy’s concussion casts an even greater pall on a passing offense that has been hampered by injuries throughout the year.

Entering the third quarter with a 9-3 lead, it looked like the Cardinals had this one in the bag; however, as soon as backup quarterback Colin McCoy left the field due to injury, things began to unravel for Arizona. Veteran backup Chris Streveler stepped in to replace McCoy and will be called on to continue leading the Cardinals’ passing attack should McCoy remain sidelined.

The offense had difficulties on several possessions and the defense was unable to stop Denver from scoring 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Ultimately, the Cardinals lost 24-15 for their fourth straight loss and sixth in seven games. It is a disappointing outcome for a team that was looking for positive takeaways after an otherwise difficult season.

Broncos Squad, Stepup

Meanwhile, it was a game of success for the Denver Broncos, as running back Latavius Murray posted the first 100-yard rushing game of the season and also the first Bronco to do so. He also tacked on a touchdown for good measure. The defense also proved to be formidable against the opponents, with safety Justin Simmons managing a pair of interceptions for his third consecutive season with at least five.

Tight end Eric Tomlinson additionally contributed, hauling in three catches for 30 yards despite his limited production up until that point in the season. DeShawn Williams was also present to lead Denver’s defensive charge with 2.5 sacks – putting him at 4.5 since the bye week and setting a career-high in quarterback takedowns.

What’s Next for the Cardinals?

The Cardinals will still play Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-8), Atlanta Falcons (5-9), and San Francisco 49ers (10-4), for Week 16-18, respectively.
